Bouche Bée @ The Vortex

for MOPOMOSO afternoon sessions

also featuring that afternoon: Dave Tucker (bass) / Matt Hutchinson (piano) / Andrew Lisle (drums) trio And Henry Lowther (trumpet) / John Russell (guitar) duo

John Eyles (alto saxophone) / Petri Huurinainen (guitar) / Emmanuelle Waeckerlé (voice and amplified flute)

Besides our regular Thornton Heath sessions, this is the third public appearance of our recently formed trio. We offered an enjoyable alternative to World Cup mania with great feet action.

Bouche Bée [boosh bay]

(a French phrase that translates as “open-mouthed, gaping, gawping) was formed in 2005 as the duo of Emmanuelle Waeckerlé on voice and Petri Huurinainen on guitar. In 2015, the pair met saxophonist John Eyles when they were all involved in a performance of Cornelius Cardew’s The Great Learning at Union Chapel in Islington in 2015. The three began playing together, including at Eddie Prévost’s Friday evening workshops, leading to the saxophonist joining Bouche Bée for a while, the three playing their first trio gig in June 2017.
