SILENCIO
performance and sound installation
2001

In the centre of an empty space he is sitting, surrounded by his recording equipment Scattered around the space 10 locations are delimited by chalk marks on the floor and diagrams on the wall. Each location stands for the visual representation of a particular sound. What is common to all sounds is that they are all made by her voice . The performance consists of the making and the recording of each sound in front of its visual manifestation. This demands a tremendous physical effort and great concentration. The installation consists of the simultaneous and continuous playing of 2 or 3 copies of the recording within the space; various simple playback effects are added to each, thus adding depth and texture to the sound thereby created. The melody created never repeats itself, forever changing, forever evolving; as the voice that generated it.
