London - 17/O6/18

John Eyles (alto saxophone) / Petri Huurinainen (guitar) / Emmanuelle Waeckerlé (voice and amplified flute)
Also featuring that afternoon
Dave Tucker (bass) / Matt Hutchinson (piano) / Andrew Lisle (drums) trio
Henry Lowther (trumpet) / John Russell (guitar) duo

Besides our regular Thornton Heath sessions (some recordings here), this is the fourth public appearance of our recently formed trio and the second time at Mopomoso. The previous time was for a MOWO (Mopomoso workshop) event part of the London Jazz festival on 12th November 2017.

Bouche Bée (a French phrase that translates as "open-mouthed, gaping, gawping) was formed in 2005 as the duo of Emmanuelle Waeckerlé on voice and Petri Huurinainen on guitar. The pair met John Eyles when they were all involved in a performance of Cornelius Cardew's The Great Learning at Union Chapel in Islington in 2015. The three began playing together, including at Eddie Prévost's Friday evening workshops, leading to the saxophonist joining Bouche Bée, the three playing their first trio gig in June 2017.
