ROADWORKS in London

1996
Dvd – single screen projection - 9 mins

One on the road forever carrying one’s load.
I undertake a subjective journey through the streets of London following someone carrying a road-object on his back. A journey paradoxically spent endlessly carrying the “baggage” of the road of life that we wander. The road-object used in this video work is an artwork whose fragility and mobility denies the logic of roads as such; the phrase carry me along oh road is continuously printed sentence over sentence onto a canvas model of a road seen in diminishing perspective.
